Hey, dudes and dudettes! Just FYI, I’ve FINALLY set up a WordPress blog at my personal website, over at buttontapper.com, so I will likely be updating there rather than here in the near future. (I know, I know: cue moaning and complaining about how I change my web addresses the way some people change the colour of their hair.) You might want to update your bookmarks, if you’ve got ‘em.
You know that Seinfeld episode where George declares “It’s the Summer of George!” and his big goal is to read a book all the way through?
I kinda feel like that right now. So let’s call this TheWinter of Laura, with my big goals being a) to finish reading a book (I’m in the middle of Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential) and b) to finish writing a fictional piece for publication. You can also throw in c) to finish one of the many unfinished works on my hard drive, but that might be reaching for the stars.
Along with The Winter of Laura, I’d also like to note that I seem to have an every-other-year thing going on. I first noticed in back in 2004. Even-numbered years are not my best. I find that the odds stack things more in my favour, whereas the evens tend towards chaos. And although chaos isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since everyone can use a little shaking up now and again, it’s certainly not ideal for accomplishing goals. With 2009 fast approaching, I’m looking forward to being able to bang out a list of goals and then check them off on by one.
Let’s just go ahead and call it The Year of Laura. Here’s hoping this will not all be complicated by the ominous nonsense I just read regarding the Chinese Year of the Ox.
